The other day I attended my first ever ACTRA Awards. I was supposed to go several times before but was always either booked or out of town for other work. So it was good to finally take in the experience with friends and other actors & performers. The Carlu, where they have the award show each year, is a beautiful venue and it was the first time I was there also. The night started off very socially with alot of “schmoozing” while eating great food (kudos to the caterer) and having way too expensive drinks. The show itself started off a bit slow and the host’s monologue was probably longer than it should have been, but it was funny and entertaining. I love the fact that there was a “Salsa” theme to the show. It added some nice and needed flavor!

Overall, the event was decent and classy. It was good to see my peers in the entertainment business celebrate other peers and promote being proud of the career we are in. I do think there needs to be more catergories awarded though, however it was good to see that the veteran stunt performers were recognized. I also appreciated the tribute to all the performers who passed away in the past year, which included my friend Aleesha Souda (RIP). Cheers to all the winners and nominees, and see you next year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody? I want to wish all of you my fans, friends and supporters a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2016! It’s a new year, and I have new challenges and new goals. No need to bother with the “New Years Resolutions” that we often fail at. Just try to do better, be a better you and try new things. I wish you the best!

I rang in 2016 with family and friends at a fun house party, after a day in beautiful Niagara Falls! Eating, gambling and taking in the sights.

As for me, I will do what I’m preaching… I also have quite a few projects on the horizon for this new year. A few surprises when it comes to hosting TV/online segments and live events, stay tuned. All of that, plus a bunch of weddings to MC as usual (if you know someone getting married, tell them to check the promo video and book with me early) and more voice work with commercials and other stuff! Plus so much more… So I plan to stay busy and occupied this new year, watch for me!

Do remember to say HI and follow me on all my social networks (look at the left)!

Take care…

It has come around again… Another film festival season. I love this time! It’s filled with interaction, fun, networking, films and ohh… all the food, drinks and giftbags. I’m fortunate to have 2 films I starred in showing in over 6 festivals so far and more added every week. Therefore, I’m going to a lot of events as well as doing interviews and talking to very interesting people. People seem to forget that the entertainment industry is probably the most “social” of all working industries. As much as I detest “fake” people and weak conversation, I have to navigate between these things when “hob nobbing” during these type of events. However, I love the atmosphere and I thoroughly enjoy what I do.

Out of all the events I attended, I think the “Producers Ball” held during TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) at the Royal Ontario Museum stood out. It was put together by The Scott Brothers, which they do annually. And here I am with two of them, Jonathon and Drew, most known from the TV show “The Property Brothers”.

Life Lessons…

So the other day, I was taking a walk with my Uncle down 34th Street in Manhattan (one of the busiest streets in New York City) and he told me something that is only really hitting me now almost 24 hours later…

He said, “nephew look around… what do you see?”. I said, “too many damn people walking and bumping into each other.” He said, “now listen to what they are saying”. I said, “okay”. He said, “tell me the most things you hear”. I listened… I heard people mostly complaining about work, money, bills, friends, family etc. Then I told him. He said, “was anybody sounding thankful for now or optimistic for the future”. I said, “no Uncle Rexy… Why?” He said, “because people don’t take the time to appreciate and live the life they’re currently living to the fullest.” I agreed. He said, “I don’t understand why people save money… It makes NO SENSE to me! What are they saving it for??? The Angels can’t use it, God doesn’t want it, and the Devil can’t touch it! Why would you save it for the future when you can’t control the future? You could die tomorrow. Your investments could go belly up next week. Why are you working your ass off and complaining while doing so because you want a so-called secure future down the road that isn’t even guaranteed? Spend your money on yourself and those you love! Experience life NOW while you can. Don’t be frivolous with your money, but don’t be a ‘SLAVE TO THE SAVE’ either. If you’re making money right now and you’re doing it dilegently and/or consistently then what are you worried about? You should be always making it somehow. People have put the passion of the ‘HUSTLE’ way down the priority line because they are scared or don’t have enough faith in themselves to be or maintain being successful.”

Funny thing is, I remember watching the DAME DASH interview on The Breakfast Club (Power 105.1FM in NYC) over and over again… And he kept saying… “SAVING IS FOR SUCKERS”. Spend your money and keep flipping it. Hmmmmmmmmmmm… By the way my Uncle is and was very successful and now just travels the world for a hobby. Duly noted Unc! Puts another perspective on life for me…

Sometimes people put too many eggs into tomorrow’s basket and forego living more abundantly for today.

I just finished an actor role about a week ago in an upcoming short film called “Death Of The Author”, which is a murder based thriller. Very cool story! There are a bunch of films I acted in premiering in the next few months at festivals and stuff which I’m excited about, so stay tuned. Also, I’m currently doing a VOICE AD promotion via my company PartyVoiceAds.com so if you need an Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or standard radio commercial for your event or product, contact us to take advantage of our Spring sale starting at only $60!!! I also wanted you to know, if there’s a project you or someone you know is creating that has to do with the arts, let me know about it! I love creating and working with like-minded individuals. Maybe we can work together. Well, I hope you had a fun Easter weekend! I did. Just went to church and spent quality time with friends and family over good food. ‘Til next time, be good and stay positive.

Peace!

What’s good everybody??? Hope all is well… I just received the 30sec movie teaser for the film called “Mannish Boy” that I’m in and it looks real good! I’m excited to say the least. I play a drug kingpin and enforcer. The story takes place in Brooklyn, NYC in the 1970’s about two brothers caught up in the drug game. It’s a period piece so the look is very vintage… including my hair, it’s an afro, LOL! Enjoy it and let me know your thoughts. It’s comes out this Spring.

As for me, I will do what I’m preaching… I also have quite a few projects on the horizon for this new year. For myself as an actor, entertainment writer and media host. I have some TV and film appearances coming up, starting with the new drama series called “Open Heart” airing Jan. 20th on Teen Nick (U.S.) and YTV (Canada). Followed by a film called “Mannish Boy” which I’m really proud about, and a bunch more. Then I plan to launch the visual news program for my entertainment website KingpinTV.net which will be interesting to say the least. As well as a few surprises when it comes to hosting TV/online segments and live events, stay tuned. What Can Be Done In “Fifteen Minutes”?

Hey wassup everybody? I had a very productive week. I hope you did as well… One of my highlights was filming a new film called “Fifteen Minutes” with a very energetic crew. The film is a comedy about an obsession with an 80s rock band. I play a NEWS ANCHOR, and I loved the challenge to play a nerdy, sarcastic character that was different from previous roles. It comes out next year and I’m sure it’ll be pretty cool.

Check out the pic below of me inside the news room on set:

I make a small appearance in the biopic, airing Sat. November 15th on Lifetime (USA) and M3 (CAN) at 8pm, of one of my favorite R&B artists ever… AALIYAH: The Princess Of R&B. What made this extra special for me was the fact that I was fortunate to meet her a few times early in her career (around the 1st album) and she was so nice, genuine, beautiful and just cool. I miss her. She passed way too soon and just on the “come up” of her career. With that said, it was a privilege to have anything to do with this movie. Thank you to everyone involved. Here are a few screenshots…
