2016, actor, ACTRA, awards, red carpet
The other day I attended my first ever ACTRA Awards. I was supposed to go several times before but was always either booked or out of town for other work. So it was good to finally take in the experience with friends and other actors & performers. The Carlu, where they have the award show each year, is a beautiful venue and it was the first time I was there also. The night started off very socially with alot of “schmoozing” while eating great food (kudos to the caterer) and having way too expensive drinks. The show itself started off a bit slow and the host’s monologue was probably longer than it should have been, but it was funny and entertaining. I love the fact that there was a “Salsa” theme to the show. It added some nice and needed flavor!
Overall, the event was decent and classy. It was good to see my peers in the entertainment business celebrate other peers and promote being proud of the career we are in. I do think there needs to be more catergories awarded though, however it was good to see that the veteran stunt performers were recognized. I also appreciated the tribute to all the performers who passed away in the past year, which included my friend Aleesha Souda (RIP). Cheers to all the winners and nominees, and see you next year!
